*:ctut <br />Proper use and care of all tools, equipment and supplies used in the maintenance and repair of <br />water meters; <br />Water metering and billing procedures of the City; <br />Procedures for maintaining records of work activity, equipment, usage and other data pertaining <br />to water service work. <br />Principles and practices of customer service <br />Safe work practices related to field and office work <br />Ability to: <br />Organize and implement day-to-day work activities. <br />Inspect, clean, install, remove and perform repairs on water meters and backflow devices; <br />Explain policies and procedures related to water service and billing to customers;; <br />Receive and address water customer complaints and check meter functioning to resolve such <br />complaints; and <br />Maintain records and make oral and written reports on water service work activity, backflow <br />device testing, and customer problems. <br />Operate a motor vehicle and standard office equipment <br />Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. <br />Provide training and technical guidance to less experienced personnel. <br />Establish and maintain harmonious work relationships with those contacted in the course of <br />work <br />EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br />Education: <br />Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade, with supplemental courses or training in <br />mechanical maintenance, plumbing, hydrology or a related field. <br />Experience: <br />Equivalent to two years as a Water Resources Technician/ or Consumer Services Technician in <br />the City of Redwood City <br />Required Licenses or Certificates: <br />• Possession of a valid California Driver's license <br />Possession of an AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certificate and tri - <br />annual recertification within 12 months of hire. <br />Possession of a California State, Water Distribution Operator Grade -D2 Certificate is <br />highly desirable. <br />ATTY/RESO.0114/CC RESO SEW MOU AMENDMENT EXHIBIT A <br />REV: 12-29-17 MI Page 9 of 19 <br />
