12/10/2018 <br />EXHIBIT "A-1" <br />PROPOSED AMENDED JOB DESCRIPTION <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />ENDPOINT AND INFRASTRUCTURE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY <br />ANALYSTI <br />ENDPOINT AND INFRASTRUCTURE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY <br />ANALYST II <br />DEFINITION: <br />To design, implement, and support Redwood City's technology infrastructure and end <br />points. <br />IT, a division of the Administrative Services Department, is divided into two teams: <br />Software Development, and Endpoint and Infrastructure. Software Development primary <br />responsibilities involve writing and supporting software that enables City staff to deliver <br />services more efficiently. Endpoint and Infrastructure is responsible for infrastructure, <br />desktop, and mobile devices used throughout the City including but not limited to Local <br />Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Servers, Data Storage, Disaster <br />Recovery, the City's phone system, and administrative support for applications used <br />throughout the City and/or specialized departmental applications. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: <br />The Endpoint and Infrastructure Information Technology (IT) Analyst I and Endpoint and <br />Infrastructure Information Technology (IT) Analyst II job classifications are flexibly staffed. <br />The Endpoint and Infrastructure IT Analyst 1/11 and Senior Endpoint and Infrastructure IT <br />Analyst positions are responsible for evaluation, testing, optimization, implementation, and <br />support of new and existing software and hardware required to enable the City to <br />effectively and efficiently deploy and use technologies. <br />Endpoint and Infrastructure IT Analyst I: This entry level position is filled through the <br />competitive testing process. The full range of duties listed below can be performed in this <br />job class but the incumbent is not expected to function at the same skill level as the higher <br />positions and usually exercise less independent direction and judgment. This position <br />receives more detailed instructions than the higher levels and may require a higher level <br />of supervision and mentoring. <br />Endpoint and Infrastructure IT Analyst II: This is the mid-level Endpoint and <br />Infrastructure IT Analyst position. It is filed by appointment when the department head <br />has determined that an Endpoint and Infrastructure IT Analyst I is fulfilling all of the <br />requirements of the Endpoint and Infrastructure IT Analyst at a higher level with more <br />independence.
