EXHIBIT A <br /> February, 1996 <br /> <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To provide organizational development, facilitation, and team building services to <br />departmental work units, management and executive staff. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />This is a professional level human resources position requiring strong interpersonal skills <br />and administrative abilities. Considerable use of independent judgment is required. <br />Strong verbal and human relations skills are essential for incumbents assigned to this class. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Direction is provided by a higher level management position. <br /> <br />Responsibilities may include technical or project supervision over other personnel. <br />EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> <br />1. Conduct surveys, focus groups, interviews, and field observations and perform <br /> analyses on organizational effectiveness problems; make recommendations on <br /> organizational improvements processes. <br /> <br />2. Facilitate group problem solving and design and deliver team building retreats to client <br /> departments and divisions. <br /> <br />3. Participate in the review and improvement of interdepartmental systems procedures <br /> and methods of operation. <br /> <br />4. Coordinate the development, review and implementation of organization-wide change <br /> efforts. <br /> <br /> 5. Participate in administering contracts as assigned. <br /> <br />6. Represent the City in inter-departmental, community and professional meetings as <br /> required. <br /> <br /> 7. Perform work with a record of regular attendance and punctuality. <br /> <br /> <br />
