RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR, AND THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS TO CERTAIN PROJECTS RELATING TO FEDERAL SURFACE TRANSPORTATION AND CONGESTION MITIGATION AND AIR QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS (RUBBERIZED RAILROAD CROSSINGS IN THE CITIES OF BURLINGAME AND SAN MATEO); AND TO ENDORSE THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION RELATING TO ALLOCATION OF SUCH FUNDS TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT

217100 <br />for the installation and construction of rubberized grade crossings in the Cities of San <br />Mateo and Burlingame, (which crossings include Broadway, Howard Avenue, Oak <br />Grove, Peninsula Avenue [City of Burlingame], and 25 Avenue [City of San Mateo]); <br />and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the MTC requirements, and as part of the application <br />process, the City of Redwood City will allocate the necessary local matching of funds <br />not to exceed 11.5% and understands that the STP and CMAQ Improvement Program <br />funding is fixed at the programmed amount, and therefore, any cost increase cannot be <br />expected to be funded with STP or CMAQ Improvement Program Funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City approves the assurances set forth in the <br />project application, attached to this resolution; and to complete the project as described <br />in said application, if approved, as specified in MTC's TIP; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City understands that the funds must be <br />obligated by September 30, 2002, or the project may be removed from the program; <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />1. The Director of Community Development Services is hereby authorized and <br />directed to execute and file an application for funding under the STP or the CMAQ <br />Improvement Program of TEA 21 in the amount of $147,000.00 for the construction and <br />installation of Rubberized Railroad Crossings in the Cities of Burlingame and San <br />Ilky,FM o <br />Reso -816 2 13825 <br />F: /ShucdRedwood/Council <br />FXS:djk <br />01/26100 <br />
