and Saturday nights (including holiday weekends) and that the addition of traffic <br />generated by the Project and other projects in its vicinity will exacerbate existing <br />delays and temporary gridlock situations at that intersection; and <br />WHEREAS, the MND Traffic Analysis further determined that the addition <br />of traffic generated by the Project and other developments in its vicinity <br />(generally referred to as "Other Developments ") will exacerbate existing traffic <br />delays on East Bayshore Road; and <br />WHEREAS, the MND Traffic Analysis determined that to minimize the <br />impact of the traffic generated by the Project and Other Developments and to <br />increase traffic capacity and reduce delay on East Bayshore Road, the two <br />existing lanes on East Bayshore Road south of Whipple Avenue should be <br />extended and /or reconfigured south to the existing most northerly exit driveway <br />adjacent to the property referred to as "Saw Mill; and <br />WHEREAS, with the addition of the Project, and the potential addition of <br />over 300 dwelling units and commercial space, the Redwood City Police and Fire <br />Departments have indicated that a second access to the Bair Island Area is <br />necessary to provide adequate emergency vehicle response; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed extension of East Bayshore Road across <br />Redwood Creek to Blomquist Street (the "Emergency Access ") would improve <br />overall circulation and access and would improve emergency vehicle response; <br />and 13836 <br />F:\shared \Redwood \Council\ 2 <br />Reso -802 <br />FXS:fs <br />01/05/00 <br />
