11/30/2009 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14984 <br />RESOLUTON OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />RECITING THE FACTS OF THE CONSOLIDATED GENERAL <br />MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 3, 2009 DECLARING <br />THE RESULTS AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW <br />WHEREAS, a Consolidated General Municipal Election was held and conducted in <br />the City of Redwood City, California, on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, as required by law, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, notice of the election was given in time, form and manner as provided <br />by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were <br />appointed and that in all respects the election was held and conducted and votes were <br />cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and <br />manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for <br />the holding of elections in general law and charter cities; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 14938, adopted June 1, 2009, the County <br />Election Department has tallied the votes with respect to the election, has canvassed, <br />certified and published the Official Election Results which have been received and are <br />attached and made a part hereof as Exhibit "A ". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />1. That the names of persons voted for at the consolidated general election for <br />Member of the City Council are as follows: Janet Borgens, Jeff Gee, Jeff Ira, John <br />Seybert, and Charlene L. Wright. That the measures voted upon at the election are as <br />follows: Measure "X" — Shall Section 18(a) of the City Charter be amended to create a <br />seven member Library Board, all to be appointed by the City Council; 18(f) be added to <br />provide that the Library Board would establish rules for its proceedings and the City <br />Council would set forth the authority and duties of the Library Board; and deleting <br />Sections 19, 19 Y2, and 20 in their entirety; and Measure "Y" — Shall Ordinance No. 2346 <br />be adopted to increase the rates of Redwood City's Business License Tax by 16.67% per <br />year (rounded to the nearest whole dollar amount) for each of the three successive fiscal <br />years commencing on July 1, 2010; and then commencing on July 1, 2013 and annually <br />thereafter, be increased based upon the annual change in the Consumer Price Index. <br />2. That the number of votes given in the City to each of the persons above <br />named for the respective offices for which the persons were candidates and for and <br />against the measures were as listed in the attached Exhibit "A ". <br />ATTY /RESO /RESO.1962 14984 <br />112509 MUFF # 307 <br />
