<br />shift commencing between the aforementioned hours for a period <br /> <br />of at least 30 working days immediately preceding a paid holiday <br /> <br /> <br />or the commencement of a vacation or the commencement of a paid <br /> <br /> <br />sick leave, said employee shall be compensated at his established <br /> <br /> <br />rate of pay plus the above mentioned additional compensation <br /> <br /> <br />for the period of such holiday or leave. <br /> <br /> <br />SECTION 4. Any employee appointed to a position ln the <br /> <br />classification designated in Section 1 hereof, who is within <br /> <br /> <br />three (3) years of the minimum retirement age of the Public <br /> <br /> <br />Employees' Retirement System, may elect to receive either a <br /> <br />four per cent (4%) increase in his salary rate or an additional <br /> <br /> <br />five per cent (5%) payment to be made by the City to such <br /> <br />employee's contribution to the Public Employee's Retirement System. <br /> <br /> <br />SECTION 5. Any regular employee appointed to a position <br /> <br />in any of the classifications designated in Section 1 hereof who <br /> <br /> <br />is assigned in writing the duties of a job classification with <br /> <br />a higher salary range than that to which he is regularly assigned <br /> <br /> <br />on a temporary basis shall, cOIT~encing upon the first full work- <br /> <br /> <br />ing day of such assignment, receive in lieu of his established <br /> <br /> <br />rate of pay, compensation at the lowest step or rate of pay for <br /> <br />the job classification to which duties he has been assigned, <br /> <br /> <br />representing an increase of at least five percent above the <br /> <br /> <br />rate paid to such employee immediately prior to such assignment <br /> <br /> <br />for that time worked; provided, however, that in no event shall <br /> <br /> <br />such employee receive ln excess of the highest step or rate of <br /> <br />pay of the higher salary range. <br /> <br />-4- <br />
