RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY PROPOSING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ORDERING SUBMISSION THEREOF TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 10, 1984 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Council of Redwood City does hereby propose, on its motion, that those certain amendments hereinafter set forth be made to the Charter of the City of Redwood City, and does hereby order that such proposed Charter amendments be submitted to the electors of the City of Redwood City at the General Municipal

<br />DRS:djg-c 12/8/83 <br /> <br />surplus funds as determined by the Board? <br /> <br />SECTION 7. <br /> <br />(a) The Council of Redwood City hereby proposes, <br /> <br />on its own motion to amend the Charter of the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City by amending Section 21 and adding Section 31 thereto to read <br /> <br />as follows: <br /> <br />"SECTION 21. OFFICERS AND BOARDS: <br /> <br />liThe administrative officers and boards shall be the City <br />Manager, City Clerk, Director of Public Works, Chief of Police, <br />Chief of Fire Department, e~~y Assesser, e~~y ee~~ee~er, e~~y <br />~reas~rer, e~~y A~a~~er, Director of Finance, City Attorney and <br />such other officers and boards or commissions as may be hereafter <br />established. <br /> <br />"The City Manager, City Attorney, e~~y A~a~~e~, e~~y <br />~reas~rer, Director of Finance, and City Clerk eRa e~~y Assesser <br />shall be appointed by the Counci~nd the removal of any of them <br />shall be only on the affirmative vote of five-sevenths (5/7ths) of <br />all members of the City Council. <br /> <br />"All other officers and employees shall be appointed by the <br />city manager and shall hold office or position at his or her <br />pleasure. The compensation of all officers and employees, <br />excepting members of the Council, shall be provided by resolution <br />of the Council." <br /> <br />----------------------------------------------------------------- <br />----------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />"SECTION 31. DIRECTOR OF FINANCE: <br /> <br />"There shall be a Director of Finance who shall be appointed <br />by the Council. The Director of Finance shall perform the duties, <br />and exercise the powers, of the City Auditor, City Treasurer, City <br />Assessor and City Collector in accordance with Sections 33, 34, 35 <br />and 36 hereof, respectively, and the offices specified in said <br />Sections are hereby consolidated under the office of Director of <br />Finance. Wherever in this Charter reference is made to any of the <br />foregoing enumerated officers such reference shall be deemed to <br />mean the Director of Finance. The Director of Finance shall also <br />perform such other duties, and exercise such other powers, as may <br />be prescribed by the Councilor the City Manager." <br /> <br />(b) Said Charter amendment proposal shall be submitted to <br /> <br />9 <br />
