7A
Rage 61 '

Patricia A. Becker
206 Bradbury Lane
Redwood City, CA 94061

September 11, 2007

Maureen Riordan
Planning Department
City of Redwood City
1017 Middlefield Road
Redwood City, CA 94064

RE: 885 Woodside Road

Dear Maureen:

Thank you for taking the time to meet with the Hampton Oaks strategy team numerous times over
the past months to discuss our concerns about the development at 885 Woodside Road. As we
mentioned during our time with you, we understand and fully support the Cityls efforts to provide
quality housing in Redwood City. This group has also had an opportunity to meet on several
occasions with the developer. In general, we are satisfied with the current proposed changes. In
addition, we want to highlight areas we would like to make a part of the Precise Plan for the project.
We believe the developer is in agreement with these measures. I have summarized them below:

_ Construction hours: we propose that hours in the Precise Plan be changed to 7 AM - 6 PM,
Monday through Friday and no work on weekends or holidays;
_ Construction entrance: after initial phase (during which the underground garage is constructed), we
propose that the entrance of construction workers and vehicles be restricted to Woodside Road
only;
_ Construction hot line: the City should establish a construction hot line number that is published to
the homeowners of Hampton Oaks, The Enclave, Kentfield Commons and Park Atherton, in the
event that there are complaints or concerns during the construction process;
_ Project entrance: it is our understanding that CalTrans will allow ingress/egress on Woodside Road
onlYI which greatly pleases the affected residents;
_ In order to facilitate residents turning onto Woodside Road from' Horgan, we request that a "Keep
Clear" or "Don't Block the Box" area be marked at that intersection (similar to those near Woodside
Plaza and at Gordon and Woodside Road;
_ We request the City paint the following areas red in order to allow sufficient visibility to ensure safe
entrance onto Woodside Road for current homeowners and future 885 Woodside Road residents:
_> In front of the car wash on Woodside Road at Horgan. The recent repainting of the curb in
front of the car wash to allow parking has significantly reduced our ability to see traffic
approaching the intersection and created an unsafe situation, and
_> In front of the gas station and 885 Woodside Road project, for the similar reason that
allowing parking there restricts residents' ability to see oncoming traffic;
~ The curb on the Horgan side of 885 Woodside Road should be painted green, to allow only limited
time parking rather than serve as parking for car wash employees or for temporary storage of
completed jobs (as it is now used);
_ Require Hampton Oaks adjacency fencing height be between 8 - 10 feet (rather than current 6
feet);
