RES 0 L UTI 0 N N O. 10296 AUG 4 1986 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY PROPOSING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ORDERING SUBMISSION THEREOF TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HEREIN CALLED FOR SUCH PURPOSE ON NOVEMBER 4, 1986; AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO TO CONSOLIDATE SAID ELECTION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON SAID DATE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. (a) The Council of Redwood City hereby proposes, <br /> <br /> <br />on its own motion, to amend the Charter of the City of Redwood <br /> <br /> <br />City by amending Sections 21 and 28 thereof to read as follows: <br /> <br />(1) Amend Section 21 to read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 21. OFFICERS AND BOARDS: <br /> <br /> <br />liThe administrative officers and boards shall be <br /> <br /> <br />the City Manager, City Clerk, Director of rublic Worka, <br /> <br />Ci ty Engineer, Chief of Police, Chief of Fire <br /> <br /> <br />Department, Director of Finance, City Attorney and such <br /> <br />other officers and boards or commissions as may be <br /> <br /> <br />hereinafter established. <br /> <br /> <br />liThe City Manager, City Attorney, Director of <br /> <br />Finance, and City Clerk, shall be appointed by the <br /> <br /> <br />Council and the removal of any of them shall be only on <br /> <br />the affirmative vote of five-sevenths (5/7ths) of all <br /> <br /> <br />members of the City Council. <br /> <br /> <br />"All other officers and employees shall be <br /> <br />appointed by the city manager and shall hold office or <br /> <br /> <br />position at his or her pleasure. The compensation of <br /> <br /> <br />all officers and employees, except in'} the members of <br /> <br />th~ Council, shall be provided by resolution of the <br /> <br />Council.
