<br />Seotember 1986 <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />PARK RANGER <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />EXHIBIT "E" <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />To perform a wide variety of assigned and self-initiated tasks and projects <br />required to maintain park and open space areas, institute land management <br />projects, maintain park facilities and provide visitor services. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receives general direction and functional supervision from the Park and <br />Recreation Superintendent. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the <br />following: <br /> <br />Patrol parks and open space areas. <br /> <br />Provide assistance to park visitors. <br /> <br />Insure visitors are complying with park rules and regulations, and issue <br />misdemeanor citations when appropriate. <br />~ <br /> <br />Assist in making arrests when necessary. <br /> <br />Respond to citizen complaints in writing and verbally. <br /> <br />Prepare reports. <br /> <br />Make court appearances. <br /> <br />Check reserved parties into the parks and assign visitors to appropriate <br />locations. <br /> <br />Conduct mini-lectures to interested parties on natural and historical park <br />features. <br /> <br />Identify problems and address solutions. <br /> <br />Exercise tact, resourcefulness, and persuasion in dealing with people. <br /> <br />Prepare clear and concise reports and develop brochures. <br /> <br />Develop and implement land vegetation and wildlife conservation programs. <br /> <br />Operate various park equipment: tractors, tractor accessories, power tools, <br />radios. <br /> <br />Perform emergency routine custodial maintenance tasks. <br /> <br />Adminis~er First Aid and CPR. <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />Must be able to work in varying climatic conditions and be able to walk <br />extensively and be in sufficiently good health to perform job duties. <br />
