CITY <br />(Personnel ClerK - cont'd) <br /> <br />Page 2 of 2 <br /> <br />Organization, procedures, and operating details of municipal personnel <br />administration. <br /> <br />Record keeping and filing principles and procedures. <br /> <br />Public relations skills and phone etiquette. <br /> <br />English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. <br /> <br />Ability to: <br /> <br />Understand the organization of the City. <br /> <br />Operate, or learn to operate, a word processor computer terminal. <br /> <br />Type accurately at a speed of not less than 50 wpm. <br /> <br />Compose correspondence independently. <br /> <br />Compile and maintain complex and extensive records and files. <br /> <br />Meet appropriate physical demands necessary for adequate job performance. <br />Analyze situations and determine necessary action. <br />Interpret and apply personnel rules, regulations and procedures. <br /> <br />Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with City <br />employees and the public. <br /> <br />PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />Must be in sufficiently good health to perform job duties. <br /> <br />EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION <br /> <br />Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide <br />the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to <br />obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br /> <br />Experience: <br /> <br />Three years of increasingly responsible clerical experience, including <br />at least one year in a public agency personnel office. Applicants <br />~/ithout this one year of specialized experience may apply and may be <br />appointed as an Administrative Clerk II until such experience is <br />acquired. <br /> <br />Education: <br /> <br />Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by <br />specialized secretarial courses. <br /> <br />License or Certificate <br /> <br />Must possess a valid California Driver's License. <br />
