Advanced journey positions may <br />exercise technical or functional supervision over lower level <br />positions. Class titles typically include the designation <br />"Senior." <br /> <br />. SUPERVISORY CLASSES--Supervisory level classes recognize <br />classes that plan, assign, supervise, and review the work of <br />subordinates in a section or unit and assume responsibility <br />for effectively recommending and participating in a variety of <br />personnel actions in such areas as performance evaluations, <br />training, selection, transfers and disciplinary measures. <br />Supervisory pOSitions perform the most difficult and co~lex <br />duties assigned to the work unit. <br /> <br />CLASS SERIES--PROFESSIONAL <br /> <br />Professional classes within the library job family contain entry <br />through advanced journey class levels. Distinctions in levels in <br />the professional class series parallel those for the technical ser- <br />ies, but differ in some respects in scope of duties, supervision, <br />and titling designations, as the following subsections indicate. <br /> <br />6 <br />
