<br />Exhibit <br /> <br />II <br />, \ <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To perform a wide variety of complex and difficult clerical and secretarial <br />duties for a major division or office. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Received general supervision from department head, professional or management <br />personnel, or a higher level clerical position. Functional or technical <br />supervision may be provided by technical, professional, management or higher <br />level clerical personnel. <br /> <br />May exercise direct or indirect supervision over lower lever clerical <br />positions. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the <br />following: <br /> <br />Type and proofread a wide variety of reports, letters, memos and statistical <br />charts, typing from rough draft or transcribing machine recordings; may take <br />and transcribe dictation. <br /> <br />Independently compose correspondence related to responsibilities assigned. <br /> <br />Screen office and telephone callers, respond to complaints and requests for <br />information on regulations, procedures, systems and precedents relating to <br />responsibilities assigned. <br /> <br />Receive and route mail. <br /> <br />Work with several other departments insuring the timely processing of <br />permits, applications, or other items. <br /> <br />Maintain and recommend improvements in complex technical filing systems. <br /> <br />Operate division radio; contact appropriate staff in an emergency. <br /> <br />Research, compile and analyze data for special projects; collect and assemble <br />data and background materials for a variety of reports. <br /> <br />Plan and assign the work of clerical personnel in the performance of one or <br />more important department functions or independently perform all of the <br />clerical work of the department function; review work upon completion for <br />conformance to department requirements. <br />
