<br />Exhibit "A" <br /> <br />07/l7/89 <br /> <br />AGREEMENT SPECIFYING RESPONSIBILITIES - <br />CHESTNUT STREET IMPROVEMENTS <br /> <br />THIS AGREEMENT, made this <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />, 1989, <br /> <br />by and between SOUTHERN PACIFIC TRANSPORTATION COMPANY, a corporation, <br /> <br />herein termed "Railroad" and CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, a municipal corporation <br /> <br />of the State of California, herein termed "City"; <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />The parties hereto desire to set forth by this instrument their <br />agreements with respect to the improvement of Chestnut Street at or <br />near Redwood Harbor, in the City of Redwood City, County of San <br />Mateo, State of California. <br /> <br />AGREEMENT: <br /> <br />1. Ci~y, at City's expense, shall perform or arrange for: <br /> <br />(a) removal of existing pavement, including that portion <br />within the track area; <br /> <br />(b) placement of all utilities underground, casings for <br />which shall be bored unless train service is suspended <br />or other arrangements are made; <br /> <br />(c) installation of subgrade for relocated track to bottom <br />of ballast, per attached detail; <br /> <br />(d) construction of raised curb walkway on both sides of <br />relocated track; <br /> <br />(e) construction of parking bays; <br /> <br />(f) installation of new paving within the vehicular traveled <br /> <br />way; <br /> <br />(g) placement of signs, pavement markings, illuminated signs <br />and signals, and red curbing; and <br /> <br />(h) materials for rubberized railroad crossings. <br /> <br />2. Railroad, at its expense, shall: <br /> <br />(a) remove three-thousand five hundred (3,500) feet of <br />existing track, including one (1) turnout. <br /> <br />(b) install stabilization fabric; <br /> <br />(c) construct three-thousand five hundred (3,500) feet of <br />new track, including one (1) turnout on the new <br />alignment; <br /> <br />(d) rearrange existing signal facilities to accommodate <br />track changes; <br />
