<br />CES:mmg 07/25/89 (#25/043) <br /> <br />ORIGI NAL <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N o. 11130 <br /> <br />AUG 2 8 1989 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND SOUTH <br />COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION AUTHORITY RELATING TO FIRE <br />PROTECTION SERVICES FOR THAT PORTION OF THE CITY <br />GENERALLY KNOWN AS REDWOOD SHORES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The City of Redwood City desires to provide fire <br /> <br />protection services to that portion of the City, generally known <br /> <br />as Redwood Shores, that lies within the area bounded by Belmont <br /> <br />Slough on the north, San Francisco Bay on the east, Steinberger <br /> <br />Slough on the south, and the Bayshore Freeway on the west, <br /> <br />hereinafter called the "Service Area"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the distance to the service area from existing <br /> <br />Redwood City fire stations requires that arrangements be made <br /> <br />with South County Fire Protection Authority to provide response <br /> <br />to life and property threatening calls; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 9754, adopted December <br /> <br />17, 1984, the City Council of Redwood City approved the execution <br /> <br />of an agreement with the SOUTH COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION AUTHORITY, <br /> <br />an entity created for fire protection purposes by a Joint <br /> <br />Exercise of Powers Agreement between the City of San Carlos and <br /> <br />the Belmont Fire Protection District, by and through the <br /> <br />Commission <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />South <br /> <br />County <br /> <br />Fire <br /> <br />Protection <br /> <br />Authority <br /> <br />(" Authori ty"); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the previous agreement expired on June 30, 1989; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City and the South County Fire <br /> <br />Protection Authority, acting by and through the Commission of <br />
