<br />CES:djm 12113/89 (118/#25) <br /> <br />may proceed, without soliciting or advertising for bids or <br /> <br /> <br />receiving same, to expend, or enter into a contract involving the <br /> <br />expenditure of any sum required in such emergency, on hand in the <br /> <br /> <br />City Treasury and available for such purpose; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council has determined that the October 17, <br /> <br /> <br />1989 earthquake was such an emergency and that three (3) breaks <br /> <br />in a portion of the City's twenty-four inch (24") water main <br /> <br /> <br />required immediate action to safeguard the life, safety, and <br /> <br />property of the residents of the Redwood Shores area; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> <br />That certain agreement by and between the City of Redwood <br /> <br /> <br />Ci ty and Build Inc., requiring emergency repairs to three (3) <br /> <br />breaks in the twenty-four inch (24") water main in the Redwood <br /> <br /> <br />Shores area, and designated Extra Work Order #l018-l in the <br /> <br /> <br />amount of Ten Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-Five and 10/100 <br /> <br />Dollars ($10,925.10), Extra Work Order #1018-2 in the amount of <br /> <br /> <br />Fourteen Thousand Seven Hundred Ninety-Five and 2l/100 Dollars <br /> <br /> <br />($14,795.2l), and Extra Work Order #l031-l in the amount of Two <br /> <br />Thousand Nine Hundred Eight and 83/l00 Dollars ($2,908.83) is <br /> <br /> <br />hereby approved and ratified, and the City Manager is hereby <br /> <br /> <br />authorized and directed to to execute all appropriate work <br /> <br />orders, purchase orders, or other purchase documents, (subject to <br /> <br /> <br />approval as to form by the City Attorney) for and on behalf of <br /> <br /> <br />the City of Redwood City for said work. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />11196 <br />
