ORDINANCE NO. 2409 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AMENDING DIVISIONS 3, 7 AND 8 AND ADDING DIVISIONS 14 AND 15 OF ARTICLE VII OF CHAPTER 20 OF THE CITY CODE OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO PARKING NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council adopts the following findings: A. The City of Redwood City wants to provide a mixed use, walkable downtown that allows residents to forego (or limit) car ownership

11/17/2014 <br /> • 33% of respondents would have driven alone in a personal vehicle or <br /> rental car had a car share vehicle not been available; and <br /> F. Section 22511(a) of the California Vehicle Code provides that a local authority, <br /> by ordinance or resolution, may designate stalls or spaces in an off-street parking <br /> facility owned or operated by that local authority for the exclusive purpose of charging <br /> and parking a vehicle that is connected for electric charging purposes; and <br /> G. Section 22511(fl of the California Vehicle Code provides that Section 22511 <br /> does not interfere with existing law governing the ability of local authorities to adopt <br /> ordinances related to parking programs within their jurisdiction; and <br /> H. In order to promote and facilitate the use of electric vehicles, the City of <br /> Redwood City has provided off-street electric charging stations within city-owned <br /> parking facilities for the purpose of refueling electric vehicles; and <br /> I. The City uses multi-space meters in addition to individual parking meters, <br /> therefor references to "hood" for parking meters are no longer accurate and need to be <br /> changed; and <br /> J. The City of Redwood City seeks to clarify the appropriate and acceptable use <br /> of parking spaces designated for the exclusive use of electric vehicles for the purpose of <br /> recharging those vehicles; and <br /> K. This ordinance is adopted in accordance with Chapter 9 (STOPPING, <br /> STANDING, AND PARKING) of Division 11 of the Vehicle Code. <br /> Section 2. The Redwood City Municipal Code is hereby amended as shown in <br /> the following Sections by adding the text shown in underlined italics (example) and <br /> deleting the text shown in strikeout (e�a�ple). The preceding Section, following table of <br /> contents and text in brackets, [example] are informational only and need not be <br /> published in the Municipal Code. <br /> [ARTICLE VII.
