ORDINANCE NO. 2413 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AMENDING SECTIONS 12.18 AND 12.15 OF THE CITY FIRE CODE AND SECTION 9.3 OF THE CITY BUILDING CODE TO REQUIRE AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS IN MULTI-UNIT RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS OF FOUR UNITS OR MORE AND TO MAKE VIOLATIONS OF THIS REQUIREMENT A MISDEMEANOR THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council makes the following findings: 1. In recent years, the City has suffered a number of devastating fires to multi residential buildings lacking Automatic Sprinkler Systems (as defined in the 2013 California Fire and Building Codes at Section 202, "General Definitions') resulting in death, injury, property loss, and loss of certain housing stock.

06/08/2015 <br />certain economic incentives to encourage compliance as more fully set forth by a <br />resolution of the City Council. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Section 7. Public nuisance declared. <br /> Any violation of Fire Code Section <br />903.2.13(e) including maintaining a property with an Automatic Sprinkler Systems , shall <br />constitute a public nuisance and, in addition to being subject to any other remedies <br /> <br />allowed by law, may be abated as provided for by law. <br /> <br />Section 8. <br /> If any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this ordinance or of <br />the Code hereby adopted should for any reason, be found invalid, it is intended that all <br />other portions of this ordinance independent of any such portion as may be declared <br />invalid shall be valid. <br />Section 9. <br />This a doption of this ordinance is categorically exempt from CEQA <br />pursuant to Section 15061(b) (3), as it is not a project which has the potential for <br />causing a significant effect on the environment. <br /> <br />Section 10. <br />This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty days after <br />adoption but the effective date of Subsection (e) of Section 903.2.13 is July 1, 2020, as <br />set forth in the amendment. <br /> <br />* * * <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ATTY/ORD.410/FIRE SPRINKLER ORD. # 2413 <br />REV: 0 6 - 0 2 - 15 PT FORMERLY MUFF # 705 <br />Page 9 of 9 <br />
