AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY REPEALING ARTICLES IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX AND X OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE AND ADOPTING NEW ARTICLES IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX AND X OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE ADOPTING TITLE 24, PARTS 2 (VOLUMES 1 AND 2), 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 AND 11 OF THE CALIFORNIA CODE OF REGULATIONS, NAMELY THE 2016 CALIFORNIA BUILDING, RESIDENTIAL, ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL, PLUMBING, ENERGY, HISTORICAL BUILDING, EXISTING BUILDING, AND GREEN BUILDING STANDARDS CODES, TOGETHER WITH CERTAIN AMENDMENTS, EXCEPTIONS, MODIFICATIONS AND ADDITIONS, THERETO, AND THE 2015 INTERNATIONAL EXISTING BUILDING, PROPERTY MAINTENANCE, UNIFORM PLUMBING, AND UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODES

01/09/2017 <br />Window locking and opening devices shall not require any special knowledge to <br />operate. <br />Exception: Group R-1 occupancies provided with a monitored fire sprinkler system <br />in accordance with Section 903.2.8 and designed in accordance with NFPA 13 <br />may have openable windows permanently restricted to a maximum 4 -inch (102 <br />mm) open position. <br />Sec. 9.61. TABLE. 1505.1 OF THE BUILDING CODE AMENDED: Table 1505.1 of the <br />Building Code is amended to read as follows: <br />TABLE <br />1505.1 <br />MINIMUM ROOF COVERING <br />CLASSIFICATION FOR TYPES OF <br />CONSTRUCTION <br />IA IB IIA IIB IIIA IIIB IV VA VB <br />B B B B B B B B B <br />Sec. 9.62. SECTION R905.1.3 OF THE RESIDENTIAL CODE ADDED: Section <br />R905.1.3 of the Residential Code is added to read as follows: <br />R905.1.3. Minimum Class B Roof Covering. Roof coverings shall be either <br />Class A or Class B roof assemblies. <br />Sec. 9.63. SECTION 1907 OF THE BUILDING CODE AND SECTION R506.1 OF THE <br />RESIDENTIAL CODE AMENDED: Both Section 1907.1 of the Building Code and Section <br />R506 of the Residential Code are amended to read as follows: <br />1907.1, R506.1. Concrete Slabs on Grade. This section shall apply to concrete <br />slabs on grade in construction related to Groups R and U occupancies only. <br />Sec. 9.64. SECTION 1907 OF THE BUILDING CODE IS AMENDED TO ADD SECTION <br />1907.1.2. Section 1907 of the Building Code is amended to add a new Section 1907.1.2 <br />to read as follows: <br />1907.1.2. Concrete slab floors. Concrete slab floors, garage slabs, carport slabs <br />and driveways shall have a minimum thickness of three and one-half (3 1/2) inches <br />and shall be reinforced with a minimum six (6) inch by six (6) inch by six (6) gauge <br />welded wire fabric or equivalent area of reinforcing. Welded wire fabric <br />manufactured in mats shall be used. All reinforcement shall be appropriately <br />supported in order to keep the reinforcement in the mid -depth of the slab until the <br />completion of the concrete pour. Garages and carports are required to have <br />concrete slabs.
