ORD~NANCĀ£ NO. 2242 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE; ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE AND AS AMENDED THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 2000 EDITION, " AS PUBLISHED BY THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. with the third floor, for the storage of fire hose and related equipment. <br /> Said cabinets, devices, hoses and related equipment shall be furnished by <br /> the building owner or property developer who constructs such building. All <br /> such equipment, and the specific location thereof shall be subject to the <br /> approval of the Chief of the Bureau of Fire Prevention. <br /> <br /> Sec. 12.18. SECTION '1003.1.2 AMENDED. Section 1003.1.2 of the Fire Code <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1003.1.2. Standards. Fire extinguishing systems shall comply with the <br /> latest standards of the National Fire Protection Association, as approved by the <br /> Fire Chief. <br /> <br /> Sec. 12.19. SECTION 1003.2.10 ADDED. Section 1003.2.10 is hereby added <br />to the Fire Code to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1003.2.10. Automatic Sprinkler Systems. Notwithstanding the <br /> provisions of this Code or the provisions of any other Code of the City, approved <br /> automatic sprinkler systems shall be installed in the following buildings or <br /> structures: <br /> <br /> (a) New Buildings: (i) All new Group R, Division 3 occupancy dwellings and <br /> structures; (ii) all other new buildings or structures with a total floor area <br /> of three thousand (3,000) square feet or more. <br /> <br /> (b) Change in occupancy group: When there is a change in occupancy group <br /> or use from a less hazardous to a more hazardous occupancy group or <br /> use. <br /> <br /> In the event standards or requirements of this section are less restrictive than the <br /> standards or requirements of any other provisions of the Redwood City Code, as <br /> amended, the more restrictive standards shall govern. <br /> <br /> Sec. 12.20. SECTION '1003.3.1 AMENDED. Section 1003.3.1 of the Fire Code <br />is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1003.3.1. Where required. All valves controlling the water supply for <br /> automatic sprinkler systems and water-flow switches on all sprinkler systems <br /> shall be electrically monitored when there are twenty (20) or more sprinkler <br /> heads. <br /> <br /> Valve monitoring and water-flow alarm and trouble signals shall be distinctly <br /> different and shall be automatically transmitted to an approved central station as <br /> defined by national standards. <br /> <br />F:Atty/Ord/Ord.166 8 2 2/4 2 <br />040803 <br /> <br /> <br />
