<br />1/23/2006 <br /> <br />subsequently adopted Ordinance No. 2274 on September 27, 2004, amending the <br /> <br />Franchise to extend the term of the Franchise through and including October 30, 2005, <br /> <br />and subsequently adopted Ordinance No. 2288 on December 5, 2005, amending the <br /> <br />Franchise to extend the term of the Franchise through and including January 30, 2006; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this City's current cable television franchise agreement with <br /> <br />Com cast expires January 30, 2006; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 47 U.S.C. § 546(a), AT&T provided timely <br /> <br />notification to the City of Comcast's intent to seek renewal of the Franchise under 47 <br /> <br />U.S.C. § 546(a-g); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 47 U.S.C. § 546(a) the City and AT&T properly <br /> <br />commenced franchise renewal proceedings; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City and Comcast pursuant to 47 U.S.C. § 546 (h), have <br /> <br />conducted franchise renewal negotiations informally in an attempt to reach a mutually <br /> <br />acceptable franchise agreement; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City and Comcast have reached a mutually acceptable franchise <br /> <br />agreement, and are both interested in entering into the new franchise agreement; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council finds that entering into the proposed franchise <br /> <br />agreement with Comcast would be in the best interests of the citizens of the City of <br /> <br />Redwood City and that the current agreement should be superseded and replaced <br /> <br />thereby. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> <br />OF REDWOOD CITY HEREBY ORDAINS: <br /> <br />Atty/Ord/Ord.252 <br />122805 <br /> <br />2290 <br />Muff # 304 <br /> <br />.. ----...-------...--- -------------. <br />
