Description
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1988 EDITION", AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Article II (commencing at 12.7) of Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Article II (commencing at 12.7) is hereby added to Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City, to read as follows

<br /> FXS:dft /29/90R (002/9) <br /> FXS:dft L2/04/90R <br />shall apply to all hazardous materials, including those <br />materials regulated elsewhere in this Code, except that when <br />specific requirements are provided in other articles, those <br />specific requirements shall apply. When a material presents <br />multiple hazards, all hazards shall be addressed. <br /> The provisions of this article related to health <br />hazards as defined in this article and classified in <br />Division II of this article are waived when the chief or <br />other official charged with the enforcement of this code has <br />determined that such enforcement is preempted by other <br />codes, statutes or ordinances. The details of any action <br />granting any such waiver shall be recorded and entered in <br />the files of the code enforcement agency. <br /> The classification system referenced in Division II <br />shall apply to all hazardous materials, including those <br />materials regulated elsewhere in this code. <br /> Exceptions: 1. The off-site transportation of <br />hazardous materials when in conformance with the Department <br />of Transportation (DOT) regulations. 2. The quantities of <br />alcoholic beverages, medicines, foodstuffs and cosmetics in <br />retail sales occupancies are unlimited when packaged in <br />individual containers provided that: (1) solutions contain <br />not more than 50 percent by volume of water-miscible liquids <br />and ( 2) the remainder percentage of each solution is not <br />flammable; containers do not exceed 4 liters. For existing <br />buildings, see Section 1.103(b). 3. For exceptions <br />pertaining to retail display of non-flammable solid and <br /> 11 <br /> ._._~._-,-. <br />
