Description
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1988 EDITION", AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Article II (commencing at 12.7) of Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Article II (commencing at 12.7) is hereby added to Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City, to read as follows

Watchmen Required During Fumigation. <br /> Where a flammable gas or substance giving rise to a <br />flammable gas, or toxic gas, is used for fumigation, the <br />employer shall be required to maintain (1) breathing <br />apparatus and other apparatus as required by state law; (2 ) <br />conspicuous placards warning of the fumigated areas and <br />health hazards and; (3) a 24-hour supervision by trained <br />personnel in, but not limited to, the proper use of <br />breathing apparatus, from the time the premises have been <br />fumigated until all ventilation work has been completed <br />(approved gastight vaults or tanks are excepted from this <br />requirement). <br /> Section 12.18. Section 80.101 amended. <br /> Section 80.101 of the Fire Code is hereby amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> Section 80.101. Scope. The purpose of this article is <br />to provide requirements for the prevention, control and <br />mitigation of dangerous conditions related to hazardous <br />materials and to provide information needed by emergency <br />response personnel. Hazardous materials are those chemicals <br />or substances defined as such in Article 9.
