Description
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1988 EDITION", AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Article II (commencing at 12.7) of Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Article II (commencing at 12.7) is hereby added to Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City, to read as follows

<br /> FXS:dft /29/90R (002/9) <br /> FXS:dft lL/04/90R <br />of fire department vehicular or personnel access (whichever <br />access is more restrictive as determined by the Chief) shall <br />be equipped with an approved rescue air replenishment <br />system. Such system shall provide an adequate pressurized <br />fresh air supply through a permanent piping system for the <br />replenishment of portable life sustaining air equipment <br />carried by fire suppression, rescue, and other personnel in <br />the performance of their duties. Location and <br />specifications of access stations to, and the installation <br />of, such air replenishment systems shall be made in <br />accordance with the requirements and standards of the Chief. <br /> (b) Fire Fighters Communication Systems. In buildings <br />six or more stories in height, fire fighters communication <br />systems shall be installed in accordance with the following <br />requirements: <br /> (i) One access jack shall be provided at each <br /> stairwell landing and two access jacks shall be <br /> provided in a lobby area of the building in plain <br /> view of elevator doors, and in any event at <br /> locations and according to specifications subject <br /> to the approval of Fire Prevention Bureau. <br /> ( ii) One phone set shall be provided for each floor of <br /> the building; provided, that such phone sets shall <br /> be located in the lobby area at a location and <br /> according to specifications subject to the <br /> approval of the Fire Prevention Bureau. <br /> (iii) One additional phone set shall be provided with <br /> 5 <br />
