Description
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1988 EDITION", AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Article II (commencing at 12.7) of Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Article II (commencing at 12.7) is hereby added to Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City, to read as follows

<br /> FXS:dft /29/90R (002/9) <br /> FXS:dft L¿/04/90R <br /> not less than 500 feet of phone cord which shall <br /> be maintained on a roller device providing <br /> convenient portability, which portable phone set <br /> shall likewise be maintained at a location and <br /> according to specifications approved by the Fire <br /> Prevention Bureau. <br /> (c) Emergency Procedures Board. In every building <br />four or more stories in height, except for the types of <br />buildings specified under Title 19 of the California Code of <br />Regulations, Section 3.09, an emergency procedures board <br />shall be posted in the central hallway or corridor on each <br />floor depicting the layout of the floor; designating by the <br />notation 'you are here' , or other readily understandable <br />marking, the location of said board; specifying a route of <br />egress from the floor to all stairwell locations and setting <br />forth a fire emergency plan specifying measures to be taken <br />by occupants in case of fire. Notwithstanding the reference <br />to building height hereinbefore, in all hotels and motels, <br />an emergency procedures board, bearing the notation 'in case <br />of fire' , shall be posted on the inside of all room doors, <br />and shall set forth a fire emergency plan, subject to the <br />approval of the Fire Prevention Bureau. <br /> (d) Emergency Evacuation Drill. For all buildings <br />four or more stories in height, the building owner or <br />manager, or other representative of the building owner shall <br />conduct an emergency evacuation drill not less than <br />annually. <br /> 6 <br />
