ORDINANCE ADDING CHAPTER 42 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO CERTAIN RESIDENTIAL RELOCATION BENEFITS FOR DISPLACEMENT CAUSED BY NON-RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT AND CODE ENFORCEMENT THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION l. Chapter 42 is hereby added to the Code of Redwood City to read as follows: "Chapter 42. RESIDENTIAL RELOCATION BENEFITS "Section 42.1. Findings. The Council of Redwood City finds and declares as follows: (a) Pursuant to Government Code Section 65580, the Legislature of the State of California

<br /> DES: df1 /21/92R (004/11) <br /> 4/27/92R <br /> (c) Rental dwelling units exist in the City <br /> of Redwood City which are in violation of zoning, <br /> building, or other regulations of the City of <br /> Redwood City relating to the safety and <br /> habitability of such units, but enforcement of <br /> such regulations will require that such dwelling <br /> units be vacated. <br /> ( d) Rental dwelling units also exist in the <br /> City of Redwood City which are located within <br /> buildings which will be demolished or converted to <br /> non-residential uses, i.e. , commercial and <br /> industrial uses, likewise causing the dwelling <br /> units therein to be vacated. <br /> (e) The rental dwelling units most likely to <br /> be in violation of the above-mentioned regulations <br /> and most likely to be replaced by non-residential <br /> development frequently are occupied by persons of <br /> modest economic means. <br /> (f) The public health, welfare and safety <br /> require that the economic hardship, the practical <br /> difficulties in obtaining replacement housing and <br /> other adverse effects upon persons displaced by <br /> enforcement of the above-mentioned regulations or <br /> development be minimized. <br /> "Section 42.2.
