ORDINANCE NO. 2075 ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE OF, AND ADDING ARTICLE VI TO, CHAPTER 14 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO ABATEMENT OF ABANDONED SHOPPING CARTS THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The title of Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read as follows: "Refuse, Weed, Nuisance and Abandoned Shopping Cart Regulation and Abatement. SECTION 2. Article VI is hereby added to Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: "ARTICLE VI. "Abatement of Abandoned Shopping Carts

DES:d~t 4/01/93 (015/10) <br /> 1/17/94R <br /> <br /> "Section 14.92. Findings, Declaration of Nuisance. <br />The Council of Redwood City finds and declares that <br />unidentified Carts which accumulate and become wrecked, <br />dismantled and abandoned on Public Property result in <br />conditions which reduce property values, constitute an <br />attractive nuisance and hazard to the health and safety of <br />persons and promote blight and deterioration of property in <br />proximity thereto; that such conditions are detrimental to <br />the aesthetics, economic, and social well-being of the City; <br />and are injurious to the health, safety and general welfare. <br />The Council further declares that the presence of <br />unidentified, wrecked, dismantled or abandoned Carts and <br />parts thereof on Public Property constitute a public <br />nuisance which may be abated pursuant to this Article. <br /> <br /> "Section 14.93. Enforcement. Except as may otherwise <br />be provided in this Article, the provisions of this Article <br />shall be administered and enforced by the Director. The <br />Director is hereby authorized to enter into, on or upon any <br />Public Property to examine a Cart, or parts thereof, or to <br />obtain information as to the identity of the Owner of any <br />Cart, or to remove the Cart in accordance with the <br />provisions of this Article. <br /> <br /> "Section 14.94. Identification. All Carts used in the <br />City shall be identified by the Owner thereof by a sign <br />firmly affixed thereto which shall include the name, or <br />other identifying marks of the Owner sufficient to apprise <br />the Director of the ownership thereof. <br /> <br /> 3 2075 <br /> <br /> <br />
