Article II ("Signs") of Chapter 3 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. Section 2. Article II ("Signs") is hereby added to Chapter 3 of the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: "ARTICLE II SIGNS

located above the ground floor shall not display a building sign <br /> unless customer access is provided directly from stairs or an <br /> elevator adjacent to an exterior door on a building facade. <br /> <br /> iii. Sign Area. The combined area of building signs, temporary signs <br /> and real estate signs displayed on a building fa(~ade shall not <br /> exceed the area set forth in Table 1. <br /> <br /> 2. Special Regulations. The following limitations apply to each specific type <br /> of building signs that may be allowed: <br /> <br /> i. Architectural Bannem. Each architectural banner shall be subject <br /> to review and approval by the Architectural Review Committee. <br /> <br /> ii. Awning Signs and Canopy Signs. If an awning sign or canopy <br /> sign is illuminated, the entire sun'ace of the awning or canopy shall <br /> be included in calculating the sign area. <br /> <br /> iii. Blade Signs and Under-Canopy Signs. No blade sign or under- <br /> canopy sign shall exceed six (6) square feet in area per side. <br /> <br /> iv. Projecting Signs. Each projecting sign shall comply with the <br /> following requirements: <br /> <br /> a. Number. Not more than one (1) projecting sign may be <br /> displayed on any building facade. <br /> <br /> b. Placement. No sign may extend more than four (4) feet from <br /> the face of a building. Each projecting sign shall be setback at <br /> least two (2) feet from the curb or paving of the nearest street. <br /> <br /> v. Wall Signs. Each wall sign shall comply with the following <br /> requirements: <br /> <br /> a. Size. No wall sign for a business located above the first floor <br /> shall exceed six (6) square feet in area. <br /> <br /> b. Number. No business shall display more than one (1) <br /> wall sign on a building facade. <br /> <br /> c. Placement. Every wall sign shall be setback at least two (2) <br /> feet from the curb or edge of paving on the nearest street.
