ORDINANCE NO. 2161 ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 3 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD RELATING TO SIGNS AND ADDING ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 3 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO SIGNS Section 1. Article II ("Signs") of Chapter 3 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. Section 2. Article II ("Signs") is hereby added to Chapter 3 of the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: "ARTICLE II SIGNS

Section 3.61.52. Neon Sign. An illuminated sign consisting of a gas-filled glass tube <br />in the shape of letters, numerals and/or symbols. <br /> <br />Section 3.61.63. Noncommercial Sign. A sign that does not identify, advertise or <br />attract attention to a business, product or service. <br />Section 3.61.64. Nonconforming Sign. A sign that was legally installed but that does <br />not conform to the provisions of this Article. <br /> <br />Section 3.61.65. Nonstructural Trim. Any molding, batten, caps, nailing strips, lattice <br />or other components of a sign other than a sign face or structure. <br />Section 3.61.56. On Premises Advertising Displays. Any structure, housing, sign, <br />device, figure, statuary, painting, display, message placard, or other contrivance, or any <br />part thereof, that has been designed, constructed, created, intended, or engineered to <br />have a useful life of 15 years or more, and intended or used to advertise, or to provide <br />data or information in the nature of advertising, for any of the following purposes: (1) <br />To designate, identify, or indicate the name or business of the owner or occupant of the <br />premises upon which the advertising display is located; (2) To advertise the business <br />conducted, services available or rendered, or the goods produced, sold, or available for <br />sale, upon the property where the advertising display has been lawfully erected. <br /> <br />Section 3.61.57 Open House Sign. A sign providing directions to a residential <br />property on public display for the purpose of sale, lease or exchange. <br />Section 3.61.68 Off-Site Sign. A sign that identifies, advertises or attracts attention to <br />a business, product, service, event or activity sold, existing or offered elsewhere than <br />upon the same property where the sign is displayed. <br /> <br />Section 3.61.59. Painted Sign. A sign that is painted, printed or stenciled directly <br />onto the exterior surface of a building, wall or fence. <br />Section 3.61.60. Political Sign. A sign promoting a candidate for elective office, a <br />political party or a ballot measure. <br /> <br />Section 3.61.61. Portable Sign. A sign that is designed to be transported and that is <br />not secured to the ground or a permanent structure. Portable signs include but are not <br />limited to A-frame signs and signs with wheels. <br /> <br />Section 3.61.62. Projecting Sign. A sign mounted onto a building fa<}ade that <br />extends at least twelve (12) inches from the wall. A sign extending less than twelve <br />(12) inches from a building fa~:ade shall be considered a wall sign. <br /> <br />Section 3.61.63. Readerboard Sign. A sign with detachable copy that can readily be <br />changed manually. Examples of readerboard signs include but are not limited to <br />theatre marquee signs, business directory signs, fuel price signs, and neighborhood <br />announcement signs. <br /> <br />Section 3.61.64. Real Estate Sign.
