6/28/99 <br /> _ ORIGINAL _ <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2162 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE ADDING CHAPTER 18C TO THE CODE OF THE <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO THE DISPLAY OF <br /> ADULT MATERIALS <br /> <br /> THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. FINDINGS. The Council hereby finds and determines as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> The City Council finds that there exists and has existed an increasing <br />trend toward the display of adult materials, such as adult magazines, books, and <br />video cassette tapes, at grocery stores, convenience stores, drug stores, and <br />other retail outlets within the City. The adult material is often displayed within the <br />open view of children of tender years and is easily accessible to them. The City <br />Council finds that this material is adverse to the public peace, morals, and good <br />order of young children. The Council further finds that it is in the best interest of <br />the public safety, welfare and convenience of the City to prohibit the display of <br />adult material and to adopt the following regulations so that adverse impacts <br />upon young children are kept to a minimum. <br /> <br /> Section 2. Chapter 18C is hereby added to the Code of the City of <br />Redwood City, to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "CHAPTER 18C. REGULATION OF DISPLAY OF ADULT MATERIALS <br /> Sec. 18C.1.
