ORDINANCE NO. 2169 ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 14.1, 14.12, AND 14.5 OF CHAPTER 14 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO DEFINITIONS, CONSTRUCTION, AND PLACEMENT OF RECEPTACLES FOR GARBAGE AND RECYCLABLES, RESPECTIVELY THE COUNCIL REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 14.1 of Article of Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 14.1. Section 14.1 of Article 1 of Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br />City is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 14.1. DEFINITIONS: For the purpose of this Chapter, the following words <br />and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this Section: <br /> <br />GARBAGE: Shall mean and be held to include all animal and vegetable wastes from <br />kitchens, all household wastes that shall have been prepared for or intended to be <br />used as food or shall have resulted from the preparation of food and, also, every <br />accumulation of animal and vegetable waste from the establishments where foodstuffs <br />intended for human consumption are handled commercially. <br /> <br />RECYCLABLE MATERIAL (RECYCLABLES: Shall mean waste materials that are <br />separated, collected and processed, and used as raw materials for new products. <br />Recyclables include any waste material for which there is currently a feasible collection <br />system available." <br /> <br />REFUSE: Shall mean and be held to include all types of waste materials such as <br />defined herein under the headings of garbage, rubbish and waste matter. <br /> <br />REFUSE COLLECTOR: Shall mean an agent or employee of the City or any person <br />with whom the City shall have duly contracted, under the terms of this Chapter, to <br />collect and transport refuse through the streets, alleys or public ways of the City. <br /> <br />RUBBISH: Shall mean and be held to include pasteboard boxes, rags, papers, straw, <br />sawdust, packing material, shavings, boxes, trimmings from lawns, trees and flower <br />gardens and all other combustible material. <br /> <br />WASTE MATTER: Shall mean and be held to include crockery, bottles, tin cans, metal <br />vessels, ashes, shells, plaster, brickbats and all other noncombustible materials." <br /> <br />Ord-083 <br />f/sh/sh/RC/Council <br />FXS:fs <br />06/21/99 <br />06/23/99 3:35 PM <br /> <br /> <br />
