CGM:djg-c 5/27/82 CGM:djg-c 6/7/82R ORIGINAL 1 860 JUN 1 4 1982 ORDINANCE 1860 --------- ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2.63, 2.65, 2."68, 2.72, AND 2.77 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO PURCHASING PROVISIONS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 2.63 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 2.63. (a) All materials, equipment, and supplies costing more than ten thousand dollars shall be purchased in the open market on the basis of competitive bidding in accordance with the provisions of this article. (b) Any public work or improvement costing more than ten thousand dollars shall be contracted for in ac- cordance with section 67 of the Charter unless such work or improvement is performed by a department authorized to execute such work or improvement directly as provided in section 67 or unless the work is performed as provided in section 68 of the Charter. The procedure pertaining to the purchase of materials, equipment and supplies having an estimated cost in excess of ten thousand dollars shall be followed in the award of contracts for public works and improvements wherever applicable. " SECTION 2. Section 2.65 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 2.65. The city manager shall solicit written bids without public advertisement for every contract for any public work or improvement, and every contract for the purch- ase of materials, equipment or supplies, the estimated cost of which is over ten thousand dollars but less than twenty thousand dollars. Such solicitation shall be written, and shall be sent to not less than three (3 ) prospective bidders; provided, however, that where less than three (3 ) prospective bidders are known by the manager to exist, he shall send such solicitations to all those so known to him. The city manager shall cause public notice inviting bids to be published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the city at least five 1 860 --~. ..
