1 860 JUN 1 4 1982 ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2.63, 2.65, 2."68, 2.72, AND 2.77 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO PURCHASING PROVISIONS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 2.63 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 2.63. (a) All materials, equipment, and supplies costing more than ten thousand dollars shall be purchased in the open market on the basis of competitive bidding in accordance with the provisions of this article. (b) Any public work or improvement costing more than ten thousand dollars shall be contracted for in ac- cordance with section 67 of the Charter unless such work or improvement is performed by a department authorized to execute such work improvement

<br /> CGM:djg-c 5/27/82 <br /> CGM:djg-c 6/7/82R <br />(5 ) calendar days preceding the day set for the <br />receipt of proposals for every contract for any <br />public work or improvement, and every contract for <br />the purchase of materials, equipment or supplies, <br />the estimated cost of which is twenty thousand <br />dollars or more. <br />The aforesaid written solicitation, or the public <br />notice, as appropriate, shall contain a general <br />description of the public work or improvement to <br />be done, or the articles to be purchased, shall <br />state where the particular plans or specifications <br />relating thereto may be secured, and shall state <br />the time and place for opening of bids, or the <br />time and place for competitive oral bidding before <br />the city council. Every solicitation and notice <br />shall contain a reservation of the council's <br />right to reject any and all bids. " <br />SECTION 3. Section 2.68 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br />City is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 2.68. <br />Every contract for any public work or improvement <br />and every contract for the purchase of materials, <br />equipment or supplies costing more than ten thou- <br />sand dollars shall be awarded by the city council <br />to the lowest responsible bidder. The city council <br />shall have the power to reject any and all bids and <br />to solicit or advertise again or provide for such <br />work to be done pursuant to section 68 of the Charter. <br />The council may waive any irregularities in bids <br />received or permit the correction of erroneous bids <br />when the council finds that the irregularity or <br />error was not the result of fraudulent intent on the <br />part of the bidder and that the best interests of <br />the public would be served thereby. " <br />SECTION 4. Section 2.72 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br />City is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 2.72. <br />All purchase contracts entered into by the city for <br />the purchase of materials, equipment, or supplies <br />and all contracts for the performance of any public <br />work or improvement, respectively costing more <br />than ten thousand dollars shall be in writing <br />and shall be executed by the city manager." <br /> 2 <br /> ...-.....- <br />
