ORiGINAL ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 33 OF, AND ADDING CHAPTER 33 TO, THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO TAXICAB REGULATIONS THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Chapter 33 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Chapter 33 is hereby added to the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: "CHAPTER 33. TAXICABS "ARTICLE I. DEFINITIONS

The interior of each taxicab shall <br />be cleaned daily. The exterior of each taxicab shall be washed <br />not less than once a week and painted once each year; provided, <br />however, that the painting thereof may be less frequently so long <br />as the appearance thereof, including the color scheme, owner's <br />trademark, monogram or insignia or other markings conform to the <br />generally prevailing standard in the trade in the San Francisco <br />Peninsula region (comprised of the area between the northerly <br />corporate limits of the City of San Jose and the southerly such <br />limits of the City and County of San Francisco). <br /> "Section 33.16. Any driver employed to transport <br />passengers to a definite point shall take the most direct route <br />that will take the passengers to their destination safely and <br />expeditiously. <br /> "Section 33.17. If requested, every driver of a <br />taxicab shall give a receipt upon payment of the correct fare. <br /> "Section 33.18. It shall be unlawful for any driver to <br />refuse, when the vehicle is in service and not otherwise engaged, <br />to transport any person who requests such service in a sober and <br />orderly manner and for a lawful purpose. <br /> "Section 33.19. It shall be unlawful for any driver to <br />permit any other person to occupy or ride in any taxicab, unless <br />the first person employing the taxicab shall consent to the <br />acceptance of additional passengers. <br /> "Section 33.20.
