1883 --------- - - NOV 7 1983 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 5.1, 5.1.1, 5.2, 5.17, 5.20, 5.21, 5.22.5, 5.23, 5.63.1, 5.65 AND 5.91 OF, ADDING SECTION 5.24, DIVISION 4 (COMMENCING WITH SECTION 5.25) OF ARTICLE II AND SECTION 5.61 TO, REPEALING SECTIONS 5.6, 5.13, 5.14, 5.16, 5.22.1, 5.24, 5.24.1, 5.24.2, 5.24.3, DIVISION 3 (COMMENCING WITH SECTION 5.31) OF ARTICLE III, SECTIONS 5.61 AND 5.64 OF, AND RENUMBERING SECTIONS 5.25 AND 5.26 OF, THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY REGARDING PERMITS FOR DANGEROUS AND VICIOUS ANIMALS THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 5.1 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 5.1. (a) Animal Control Shelter: Those facilities provided for the impounding of animals

<br />t:GM:rb 7/14/83 <br />~GM:rb 10/19/83R <br />CGM:rb 10/24/83R <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />After the informal hearing, the Animal Control Officer <br />may modify the terms of the permit or revoke the <br />permit depending upon permittee's ability and/or <br />willingness to comply with the requirements of this <br />division. <br /> <br />"(d) In the event that it is reasonably necessary to <br />protect against an immediate threat or danger to the <br />public or to an animal's health or safety, the Animal <br />Control Officer may suspend any permit summarily and <br />impound the animal without a hearing, for a period not <br />to exceed thirty days. <br /> <br />"(e) The Animal Control Officer shall have the <br />authority to enter the premises where a dangerous <br />animal is being kept or maintained at any reasonable <br />hour in a lawful manner, and to take up, impound, and <br />safely keep an animal upon denial, revocation or <br />suspension of a permit or upon refusal to apply for a <br />permit. <br /> <br />"Section 5.25.3. Inspection. Permits issued pursuant <br /> <br />to the provisions of this article shall provide that <br /> <br />as a condition for issuance, the premises upon which <br /> <br />an animal is maintained shall be opened at any <br /> <br />reasonable hour for inspection by the Chief of Animal <br /> <br />Control or his designee and that said animal shall be <br /> <br />surrendered for inspection by the permittee upon the <br /> <br />request of an Animal Control Officer. <br /> <br />SECTION 14. Section 5.61 is hereby added to Chapter 5 of <br /> <br />the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 5.61. Animals to be Impounded. Every animal <br /> <br />kept or found under conditions which constitute a <br /> <br />violation of this ordinance may be impounded by an <br /> <br />animal control officer. Except as otherwise provided <br /> <br />hereunder, an impounded animal may be redeemed by the <br /> <br />owner or person entitled to its possession, after <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />._ '10'--......... <br />
