Description
JAN 9 1984 ORDINANCE ADDING SECTIONS 12.18.5 AND 12.18.6 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY PROVIDING FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE AND MATERIALS THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Sec~on 12.18.5 is hereby added to the Code of the " City of Redwood City to read as follows: "Section 79.101 of the fire code is hereby amended to read as ~. follows: Section 79.101. ( a) General. The storage, use, dispensing and mixing of flammable and combustible liquids shall be in accordance with this article, except as otherwise provided in other laws or regulations

Medicines, foodstuffs and cosmetics, containing not more than <br />50 percent by volume of water-miscible liquids and with the remainder <br />of the solution not being flammable, in retail sales or storage uses <br />when packaged in individual containers not exceeding 4 liters. <br /> 4. Storage and use of fuel-oil tanks and containers connected <br />with oil-burning equipment. Such storage and use shall comply with <br />Article 6l and the Mechanical Code. <br /> Q <br /> 5. Liquids without flash points that can be flammable under some <br />conditions, such as certan halogenated hydrocarbons and mixtures <br />containing halogenated hydrocarbons. <br /> 6. Mists, sprays or foams except flammable aerosols in containers <br />a s my be included under Division II. <br /> (b) Liquids With Unusual Burning Characteristics. Additional <br />requirements may be necessary for the safe storage and use of liquids <br />which have unusual burning characteristics, which are subject to <br />self-ignition when exposed to the air, which are highly reactive with <br /> , <br />other substances, which are subject to explosive decomposition, or have <br />other special properties which dictate safeguards over and above those <br />specified for a normal liquid of similar flash point classification. See <br />Article 80. <br /> (c) Alternate Materials or Methods. In particular installations, <br />the provisions of this article may be altered in accordance with Section <br />2.30l at the discretion of the chief after consideration of the special <br />features such as topographical conditions, barricades, walls, adequacy of <br />building exits, nature of occupancies, proximity to buildings or <br />adjoining property and character of construction of such buildings, <br />capacity and construction of proposed tank and character of liquids to be <br />stored, nature of process, degree of private fire protection to be <br />provided and the adequacy of facilities of the fire department to cope <br /> . <br />with flammable and combustible liquid fires. <br /> (2) <br /> ,.-..... ___h""'_ <br />
