JAN 9 1984 ORDINANCE ADDING SECTIONS 12.18.5 AND 12.18.6 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY PROVIDING FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE AND MATERIALS THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Sec~on 12.18.5 is hereby added to the Code of the " City of Redwood City to read as follows: "Section 79.101 of the fire code is hereby amended to read as ~. follows: Section 79.101. ( a) General. The storage, use, dispensing and mixing of flammable and combustible liquids shall be in accordance with this article, except as otherwise provided in other laws or regulations

<br /> Hazardous Materials. Hazardous Materials shall include any of the <br /> following: <br /> (a) Flammable solids, corrosive liquids, poisonous gas or highly <br /> toxic, radioactive, oxidizing, unstable or reactive, hypergolic or <br /> pyrophoric materials; <br /> (b) Any substance or mixture of substances which is an irritant, a <br /> strong sensitizer, or which generates pre~qure through exposure to heat, <br /> Q <br /> , <br /> decomposition or other means; <br /> (c) A mixture which is either a waste material regulated by the <br /> California Department of Health Services or is a nonwaste material and <br /> contains one percent (1%) by volume or more of any material regulated by <br /> this Article; <br /> (d) Flammable or combustible liquids which are chemically unstable <br /> and which may spontaneously form explosive compounds or which may undergo <br /> spontaneous reactions that create an explosion or that with sufficient <br /> evolution of heat create a fire hazard; <br /> , <br /> (e) Any material which has been determined to be hazardous based <br /> upon any appraisal or assessment by or on behalf of the party storing <br /> this material in compliance with the requirements of the Environmental <br /> Protection Agency or the California Department of Health Services, or <br /> which would have been, but was not determined to be hazardous due to the <br /> deliberate failure of the party storing such material to comply with the <br /> requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency and/or the Department <br /> of Health Services; <br /> (f) Any material likely to create a significant potential or <br /> actual hazard to public health, safety or welfare by or on behalf of the <br /> party storing or handl,ing material. This subsection shall not establish <br /> the requirement to test materials for the purposes of this Article. <br /> .. <br /> (4) <br /> .._........ -.'..- <br />
