JAN 9 1984 ORDINANCE ADDING SECTIONS 12.18.5 AND 12.18.6 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY PROVIDING FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE AND MATERIALS THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Sec~on 12.18.5 is hereby added to the Code of the " City of Redwood City to read as follows: "Section 79.101 of the fire code is hereby amended to read as ~. follows: Section 79.101. ( a) General. The storage, use, dispensing and mixing of flammable and combustible liquids shall be in accordance with this article, except as otherwise provided in other laws or regulations

<br /> (d) Where kept for retail sale in containers or packages usual to <br /> the retail trade, storage of hazardous materials shall be neat and <br /> orderly and shelves shall be of substantial construction. Hazardous <br /> material contained solely in consumer products stored in retail <br /> establishments or used by the general public or commercial products used <br /> at the facility solely for janitorial or minor ffi~intenance purposes are <br /> Q <br /> excluded from the requirements of subdivision (j) of this section and the <br /> requirements of Section 80.105. <br /> (e) Where specific requirements are not otherwise established, <br /> storage, transportation or use of hazardous materials shall be in <br /> accordance with nationally recognized standards or good practices. This <br /> may require that the permittee retain a suitably qualified independent <br /> engineer, or chemist, or other appropriate professional consultant, <br /> acceptable to the Fire Prevention Bureau for the purpose of evaluating <br /> and rendering a professional opinion respecting the adequacy of such <br /> , <br /> prac tice to achieve the purposes of this Article. The Fire Prevention <br /> Bureau shall be entitled to rely on such evaluation and/or opinion of <br /> such engineer, chemist or professional consultant in making the relevant <br /> determinations provided for in this Article. <br /> (f) Visible hazard identification signs as specified in U.F.C. <br /> Standard No. 79-3, and Sec. 80.l12(c) of this Article shall be placed at <br /> all entrances to and in locations where hazardous materials are stored, <br /> hand led or used in quantities requiring a permit. <br /> (g) Satisfactory provisions shall be made for containment, <br /> neutralization and removal of spills or leakage of hazardous materials <br /> which may occur during.storage, handling, transportation or use.
