1946 ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 23.2 AND 23.7 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO POSITION CLASSIFICATIONS AND SELECTION PROCEDURES THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. <br /> SWC:s1-- 1/8/87 (#5) <br /> Community Development Director. <br /> " (d) All positions under the jurisdiction of the <br /> Board of Port Commissioners of the Port of <br /> Redwood City. <br /> " (e) Temporary or Part-time Positions." <br />SECTION 2. Section 23.7 of the Redwood City Code is hereby <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 23.7. Eligible Lists; Selection of <br />Appointees. Persons appointed to the competitive service <br />shall be selected from applicants on eligible lists; and <br />applicants shall be placed on such eligible lists in order <br />of their relative merit as determined by competitive <br />examinations. Appointments to positions in the competitive <br />service shall be made from the first three (3 ) applicants on <br />the eligible lists ( other than for appointment to the <br />positions of Police Officer and Police Sergeant) who are <br />ready and willing to accept position offered. <br />Notwithstanding the foregoing, any person who has <br />successfully completed a training program established by the <br />City to provide affirmatively equal employment opportunity <br />for members of races, nationalities, ethnic or cultural <br />groups, who have been denied historically in the United <br />States such opportunities because of such race, nationality, <br />or ethnic or cultural background, shall be considered for <br />appointment together with the first three (3) applicants on <br />any eligible list (or with the applicants on the eligibility <br />list for the positions of Police Officer and Police <br /> 2 <br /> .--.......-..,. <br />
