<br /> DF~:djk 09/08/88 (# 6) <br /> ORtG' NAL <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1980 <br /> SEP 2 6 1988 <br /> --------- <br /> ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br /> FRANCHISE AGREEMENT WITH BROWNING-FERRIS INDUSTRIES OF <br /> CALIFORNIA, INC. FOR RECYCLING SERVICES <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 1960 adopted October 12, <br />1987, this Council approved and authorized the execution of a <br />franchise agreement with Browning-Ferris Industries of <br />California, Inc. for solid waste collection services, effective <br />as of October 1, 1987 (the "Master Franchise"); and <br /> WHEREAS, Section 3.4 of the Master Franchise provides that <br />the parties thereto may provide by supplement thereto for <br />implementation of the recycling program wi thin the service area <br />of the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to, and reviewed by, this <br />Council a proposed franchise agreement for the collection of <br />recyclable materials prepared by the South Bayside Transfer <br />Station Authority ("SBTSA") , a public entity formed by agreement <br />in 1981 under the California Joint Exercise of Powers Act (Cal. <br />Govt. C. §§6500 et seq. ) , of which Authority this City is a <br />member; and <br /> WHEREAS, This Council desires to approve and authorize <br />execution of said supplement to the Master Franchise; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION 1. That certain franchise agreement entitled <br />"Agreement for Collection of Recyclable Materials" (form dated <br />8/18/88) by and between the City of Redwood City, a municipal <br />corporation of the State of California, and Browning-Ferris <br /> t980 <br /> ---._~..-..... <br />
