Dear Ms. Reddy,
I was informed that I can write you a letter regarding my 60 day eviction notice to be used as an
example for changes in tenant rental rules and regulations.
I have sought the help of the Housing Rights Legal Clinic on Monday October 7, 2019.
Ms. Shirley Gibson from Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County have contacted a few days
ago. We discussed my situation and and asked me to write you a letter.
I was given a paper taped to my door while I was out of town on October 1, 2019 of a
Notice of Termination of Tenancy. I also received the same notice in the mail on October
3, 2019.
This eviction notice has been quite a surprise.
I was advised by Legal Aid that my landlord can file for eviction lawsuit on or after
November 30, 2019.
I have every intention to fight the eviction. I have paid my November 1, 2019 rent as of
this writing and plan on 4 months of my rent by November 30, 2019.
The have been residing at my Redwood City studio apartment since July, 2016.
There is no reason for my eviction other than the fact that my landlord might be able to
rent my apartment for more than my rent due to more than 20K of improvements that
I've done to the place.
BACKGROUND INFO:
I moved from the Washington, DC 3yrs ago to Redwood City. I'm a first-time renter.
When I moved into my studio apt, it was barely live -able. The carpet floors were beyond
cleaning and has layers of dog excrement underneath. There were cockroaches and ants. It had
barely a kitchen (very few cabinets). The kitchen did not have GFI outlets. There was no hot
water.
At the time of move to the apartment, the whole building had some Section 8 housing
I signed a one year lease in 2016. 1 have informed my landlord many times during the course of
my first 3 years and 3 months renting that I intend to improve my apartment with the goal of
staying long term.
