I received an eviction letter telling me to leave December 1. This changed everything for us: On
my birthday, we received a notification that the property was going to be sold and from then on
we were worried, waiting for when we we'd get a letter evicting us. A week later when the whole
family arrived home, we found the letter attached to the door and the question was, "How much
time do we have?"
From that point on we can't sleep. My oldest daughter was so happy to have found work right
here in RWC, now that she's graduated from college. But now she doesn't sleep from stress
because she doesn't know what will happen. My youngest daughter asks me, "Mom, what are
we going to do? Why do we have to go? "
That is why I ask all of you city council members to pass an emergency ordinance to protect
families and the elderly who have received eviction notices (and the many other families who
are at special risk in the coming months.) The ordinance must include the prohibition of all
evictions without a just cause.
Thank you
Raquel
Aracely
Movernos a otra
