6.D. - Page 1 of 30 <br />/<;;ik <br />Redwood <br />CityI California <br />Founded ie67 <br />A&/ <br />DATE: October 28, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />iTAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Response to Civil Grand Jury Report: "Electric Vehicle Adoption in the Cities and County of San Mateo" <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve the attached letter responding to the August 12, 2019 San Mateo County Civil Grand <br />Jury Report and authorize the Mayor to sign and send the letter to the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />On August 12, 2019, the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury filed a report containing findings and <br />recommendations regarding electric vehicle adoption in the cities and County of San Mateo. As one of the <br />agencies affected by the Grand Jury Report, the City is required to prepare a response to the findings and <br />recommendations, consider the response at a public meeting, and submit the response by November 12, <br />2019. <br />The Grand Jury Report examines the steps San Mateo County and its cities have taken to reduce their <br />greenhouse gas emissions by replacing government fleet vehicles with electric vehicles, obstacles to fleet <br />vehicle replacement, and resources available to assist in converting fleets to zero emissions vehicles <br />(ZEVs).
