The
Project is a subsequent phase of the recently
approved Downtown Parks Site Assessment and
Feasibility Study (Study). The Project includes the
design of three sites for future downtown parks
based on the findings and preliminary site plan
diagrams in the Study. It also includes a design for
a non -vehicular, highly accessible, urban
recreational corridor that connects the
downtown area ("trailhead" at the open channel
creek at Maple and EI Camino Real) to the San
Francisco Bay Trail at feasible connections within
the city limit along the waterfront.
Downtown Retail Action Plan —
Recommendations to strengthen the retail
environment downtown, presented to the City
Council on October 14, 2019, will also inform land
use plans for the Downtown.
Grade Separation Study - In conjunction with the
Caltrain Business Plan and Grade Separation
Study, decisions made could alter the number
and location of Caltrain tracks as well as the
Redwood City transit center (rail and/or bus).
Housing Production — As the City Council has
established housing as its top policy priority, staff
are currently or will be working on a number of
initiatives to increase both market rate and
affordable housing. These initiatives include
updates to the Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU)
ordinance, Missing Middle, zoning updates to
reflect state law changes, and updates to the
Housing Element following the next Regional
Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) cycle.
Pollution Reduction in San Francisco Bay — the
City is implementing Green Infrastructure
approaches to ensure polluted stormwater runoff
does not flow into San Francisco Bay, in
compliance with regional mandates.
Utility infrastructure improvements — the City
has long term water and sewer master plans to
reduce reliance on imported water from the
4of11
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
117
