Frame shall be constructed of a minimum 12 gauge °U° shaped cross member,
supported by 14 gauge plates, which shall cross the chassis frame and extend the full
width of the body.
ii. The steel frame shall be attached to the chassis frame using rubber bushings supplied
by the OEM. The bushings are to be placed between the chassis frame and the steel
frame construction. The bushings shall provide a cushion between the frame and
body. Which shall allow the suspension and body to work independently.
iii. A drive shaft guard is to be welded at each drive shaft joint to the frame rails to lessen
or eliminate the whipping action caused by a loose drive shaft in the event of a failure.
iv. A minimum 18 -gauge galvanized steel het shields shall be installed to protect the body
and components from the exhaust heat.
V. The vehicle shall be equipped with a heavy-duty, corrosion resistant exhaust system.
5) Flooring
i. The floor framework is to be constructed of a perimeter 1" x 2" minimum gauge steel
tube. This tube perimeter boxes all four edges of the floor, and shall be welded through
notches at the end of each cross member.
ii. 14 gauge steel channels are to be suing which shall run the full length of the floor.
Additional support as required to support the paratransit equipment and luggage rack.
iii. The steel floor frame is to be overlaid with 5 -ply minimum 5/8" exterior grade moisture
resistant plywood. All joints are to be sealed with an expanding type urethane sealant.
iv. The complete underside of the vehicle is to be sealed against moisture, dust infiltration
and underside noise with an undercoating.
6) Sidewall
The side wall construction shall consist of 16 gauge steel tubes formed to make the
body curve. These tubes shall be welded at the bottom of the wall and at the top using
the same size tubes the fill length of the body. To consist of Nanocide antimicrobial
vinyl.
;-7
