Sustainability and Resource E£ficaiency— Goals 1 through 7, above,promote a Iand use patter�t►that is based on infill devel- opment,reduces aufio dependence,and supports transit use can- sistent with sustainable "green builcling" ob}ec�ives. The de- sign and functioning of build'tngs and site improvements should also be cQnsistent with these objecti.ves and with"Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" (LEED),"Build it Green;' and/or other sixnilar criteria established for sustainable build- ing. Energy efficient materiaLs that provide high levels of building insul.ation,and building designs that takes advantage af renew- able energy through passive solar heat�ng, daylighting, oper- able windows,heat reflective roofing,and other means,should be pursued in all new development.Solven#-based finishes and ather materiaLs that"offgas"and create interior pollntion should be min.imized in design detailing and construction. High-effi- - 13 - ciency heating and cooling equipment, appliances, and lighting should be installed wherever feasible.
