Protect Funding for Vital Community Services. Vigorously oppose efforts to erode <br /> fiunding for vitai cammunity setvices that keep Californian families safe ftom crime, <br /> support transportation mobility and economic growth,provids housing and important <br /> after-schoo[recreatian opporfunities, ensure orderiy de�eiopment and protecf the <br /> environment. Funding for locai communityr-based services and programs should not be <br /> sacrificed again fo meet state revenue needs. <br /> 2. Green and Sustainable Cities. Lead in the development of state and loca!poficies, <br /> strategies and programs to protect#he.environment and reduce greenhouse gas <br /> emissions through more e�cient and sustainable land use and buiiding practices, <br /> increased energy efficiency and use of aRemative/renewable energy sources, improved � <br /> water suppiy and wastewater treatment system efficiencies,expanded public transit <br /> opportunities and innovations in other city aperations. <br /> 3. Expand it�frastructure Investment Support cantinued implementation of the 2006 <br /> infrastructure bond program and fhe develapment of new funding sources and programs <br /> to meet the infrastructure needs of our rapidly growing communities in a sustainab4e way <br /> for water suppfy,wastewater freatment,public transit,streets and roads, storm water <br /> management and other critical infrasfructure. <br /> 4. Enact Honest and Responsibie Eminent Dvmain Reform. Support enactment of <br /> eminent domain reforms tha#protect homeowners, such as the Homeowners Protection <br /> Act,and oppose proposais that would cripple the abiiiry of s#ate and iocaFagencies ta <br /> � manage developmenf,develop new water suppEies, protec#ti�e er�vircnenen:,and develop <br /> affordable housing. <br /> Sen.Darrelt Steinberg Addresses League Board on SB 375 <br /> SB 375 was a major topic thraughout the 2007 <br /> legislative session,with its significant land use <br /> implications for loca!govemment. Sen.
