Mayor Claire read the proclamation and Council Member Harmett commented that Mr. Scanlon <br /> has a most challenging jobs in San Mateo County, not only working with the Samtrans <br /> organization, but the Joint Powers Board and the Transit Authority. He further stated that Mr. <br /> Scanlon's staff is hard working and team oriented as encouraged by Mr. Scanlon. His leadership <br /> has been tremendous for our County in the area of transportation and has rejuvenated strategic <br /> thinking in the County and the region. <br /> <br /> Council Member Ruskin stated he has the pleasure of working with Mr. Scanlon while serving <br /> on the Transportation Authority and that the leadership in both the region and the County is <br /> legendary. He further stated, it is an indescribably difficult task and Mr. Scanlon has brought a <br /> sense of initiative, energy, creativity and responsibility to the position. <br /> <br /> Mr. Scanlon thanked the Council, stating that it is very gratifying to be called before the <br /> governing board of his hometown and be given the proclamation. He stated he would try very <br /> hard to live up to the kind words and that his family is very pleased to live in a city that is so <br /> well governed and managed. <br /> <br />6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br /> Bob Slusser, of 'Tis the Season, thanked City staff for all their work, specifically naming <br /> Deanna La Croix, Gordon Mann and staff, Gary Hover, Police Sergeants Hemandez and <br /> Sheffield, and Fire Marshall Louis Vella. He stated that it is the level of support provided by <br /> City staffthat makes the event successful. He further thanked the Civic Cultural Committee for <br /> providing the basic funding for the event. <br /> <br />7. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br /> Items on the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine by the City Council and are enacted <br /> by one motion and one vote. There is no separate discussion of these items unless a Council <br /> Member or Citizen so requests, in which event the item is removed from the Consent Calendar <br /> and considered in its normal sequence on the agenda. <br /> <br /> M/S Hartnett/Ruskin to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by title, <br /> adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. The motion passed by a <br /> unanimous voice vote with Council Member Jordan abstaining on Item 7.lA. <br /> <br /> 7.1 Section - Motions <br /> <br /> A.
