<br />7A <br />Page 17 <br /> <br />Exhibit A <br /> <br />FindinQ of Facts <br /> <br />GeoJoQical1 - The region is located in an area of high seismic activities as <br /> <br />indicated by United States Geological Survey and California Division of Mines <br /> <br />and Geology. Recent earthquake activities have indicated the lack of adequate <br /> <br />design and detailing as a contributing factor to damages that reduced the <br /> <br />protection of the life-safety of building occupants and increased the cost of <br /> <br />rehabilitation of structures. <br /> <br />GeoJoQical1l - Redwood City has an area underlain with Younger Bay Mud <br /> <br />which is corrosive to metallic piping systems. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Redwood City hereby makes a finding of <br /> <br />necessity as set forth in Section 101.8 of the California Building Code and California <br /> <br />Health and Safety Code Section 17958.5 for the code amendments listed in Redwood <br /> <br />City Code Sections 9.43,9.73,9.83,9.84 (Geological I), Sections 9.119, 9.120.9.121, <br /> <br />9.122, 9.123, 9.124, and 9.142 (Geological II), and Sections 9.149 through 9.177 and <br />Chapter 9 Appendices A and B (Geological I). <br />
